Body Hair Waxing: Sugarpot Pure Honey Sugar Waxing Kit VS SOMETHINC Manuka Sugar Wax Home Kit – Which One’s Better?

Having thicker hair on my arms and legs never used to bother me much, until two moments in my life made me think, "Maybe it’s time to start removing this hair."

First, I started feeling like the skin on my legs was rough, even after exfoliating and using lotion. After a closer look, I realized that it wasn’t just the dead skin cells building up (I probably need to get more serious with my exfoliating toner routine), but the hair was also making my legs feel rougher. So, I figured, why not give waxing a try to get smoother legs?

Second, lotion absorbs way better into the skin without all the hair getting in the way! Especially if you’re using a lotion that pills a bit after application, it can feel powdery, and when you rub it in, the pilled texture clings to the hair. Not a great look, haha.

So, back to my hair removal journey. The first time I tried waxing at home was in 2021 using the Sugarpot Pure Honey Sugar Waxing Kit (BPOM: NA18190800001). Earlier this year, I decided to switch things up and try the SOMETHINC Manuka Sugar Wax Home Kit (BPOM: NA18210800018). Here’s a breakdown of the differences between these two products, focusing on texture, how to use them, the wax cloths, key ingredients, and price.

Texture

Sugarpot Pure Honey Sugar Waxing Kit

The texture of this wax reminds me of sticky cotton candy—it's a honey-colored, gooey consistency. But over time, the texture tends to harden, especially if it's not stored properly or is exposed to changes in temperature. When I first opened it, it was easy to scoop out and spread. But after a while, it became hard, making it tougher to work with. To fix this, you can warm it up in the microwave or by placing the jar in hot water. I once accidentally put the jar directly on the stove—rookie mistake, haha.

The texture up there looks super hardened, especially since there's hardly any wax left. If I had more wax in there, it wouldn't be so stiff.

Now, this is how the wax looks after I've heated it up. Since it’s running low (and it’s been forever since I last used it), it’s melted into a more liquid form. When there was still plenty of wax, it had a nice, smooth texture—kind of like fluffy cotton candy.

This one is more stable. Even after months of storage, the wax stays soft and pliable, like a smooth, stretchy candy. Just make sure to close the jar tightly after use, and avoid getting any wax on the sides of the container—it might attract ants!

Wax Cloth

This kit comes with 12 cloth strips. The cloth is thin and has a textured surface, making it easier to grab onto the hair and pull it out. But, because of the thinness, it can feel a bit more intense on the skin when you’re waxing—ouch.

This one includes 10 cloth strips, which are thicker and smoother. Because of the thickness, it pulls out less hair with each pass, but it’s also less painful, so it’s a trade-off.

How to Use

Sugarpot Pure Honey Sugar Waxing Kit

You can technically use the wax on its own, but it's recommended to pair it with two other products from Sugarpot: Powdra Body Powder, which helps ensure your skin is dry so the wax can grip the hair better, and Soothing Mist, which calms the skin and reduces redness after waxing.

You can use this one solo, no problem! The thicker wax cloths help reduce irritation, but if you experience any stinging or redness afterward, you could try adding the Sugarpot Soothing Mist to your routine.

How Long Does It Take for Hair to Grow Back After Waxing?

In theory, it takes around 6–8 weeks for the hair to grow back, but for me, I start seeing regrowth in about 3 weeks.

Does Waxing Make Hair Grow Back Thicker?

Kind of, but not really. The hair on my arms seems the same as before—neither thicker nor more abundant. However, on my legs, the hair grew back curlier and coarser. But I can’t say for sure if waxing is the only reason because I’ve also shaved and tweezed my leg hair before.
